Set leave in memory to yes, you do this in your preferences.... I only encounter this problem when I allow the "comuter preferences" to be used instead of operating it manually. This is problematic for me as I am not the only user of my terminal (I share with everyone... learned that in Kindergarden) so I use the "automatic setting as a result I have a fair number of errors when I am not the primary user.
