Yes, sinspin is right.
fc (file compare) says that minirosetta_graphics_3.43_windows_x86_64.exe and minirosetta_3.43_windows_x86_64.exe are identical.

Moderator David, We REALLY need an update. What's being done to correct this problem? When can I start accepting WU again? Besides giving Rosetta@home a bad name, this pop-up issue is giving BOINC a bad rap. For the good of all science, please withdraw 3.43, then PLEASE give us an update, we haven't heard from you for quite some time. Rick

Nice catch! That is indeed the problem. Sorry for the silly mistake!

This will be fixed in a few minutes. We are just about ready to push another app update dealing with the issues.

Thanks so much for everyone spending the time to track this down. Immense appreciation on our end!

This is an easy fix on our end of course.

The database issue that I mention on the news is also being dealt with in this update. In the current update we added a new database file that would allow us to automatically generate protein fragments on the fly which would significantly reduce the turnaround time for many targets we process on our automated server Robetta. We decided to remove this file since it increased the size of the database over 2x and the file would not be used for a majority of our BOINC jobs, and some users have reported issues that might be related to this (issues of possibly hitting disk space limits, etc.) There are other options we can pursue that will not require adding this file to the R@h application package.

I have the same issue.
The pop-ups look like the graphics that you are get by clicking on a task "show graphic" (visualizing the folding process) but they do nothing. You can close the pop-up but in a few seconds it appears again.

I believe this issue is affecting all of my Rosetta installs. Just started yesterday afternoon with the upgrade to 3.43. All machines are running Windows 7 64-Bit, it launches one pop-up window per CPU core (or active Rosetta work item).

Generally the pop-up looks like the screen saver, however it is a much smaller window, maybe 25% of the screen size. All of the images show "no shared mem".

In the case of the machine that I use there are four CPU cores, so there are four pop-ups. They seem to steal the focus from each other every few seconds - even if I don't press anything the different MiniRosetta tasks will flash on the task bar.

If you try to close the pop-up it will often report that the program is not responding, however if you wait it will close properly. Another pop-up is launched in its place almost immediately.

Thanks for the update David. Is it safe to accept WU's again? Rick

A number of users are having issues with our screensaver application automatically running in a pop-up window. We currently are not able to reproduce this on our test machines so we are asking users to please post any information that may help us track down this bug. Please post on this message board thread specific information about the boinc client version and platform version. We are also investigating another issue that may be related to an increase in our application database size.

So far, I have seen the problem only under 64-bit Windows 7 with BOINC 7.0.28.

Still waiting for a suitable workunit to check whether it also occurs under 64-bit Windows Vista with BOINC 7.0.28.

Appears likely to be because a second copy of the screensaver program was downloaded in place of the program for doing the calculations, but it can't show any progress in the calculations because there is no program doing any.

I do not see a problem that appears related to database size, possibly because I already have the maximum size of memory allowed by my motherboards, and have plenty of free disk space.

I have windows 7 x64 on an intel quad core cpu.
2 work units for 3.41 show normal progress, etc.
The 3.43 w/u's show zero progress on the progress bar in the
manager (7.0.28 -x64). One has been 'running' for 3:47 hrs.
the other one for 1:52. both show 'zero' progress and the cpus
status look like only 2 cores are running (the 3.41 w/u's).

The 3.43 w/u's in progress don't seem to be doing anything. This
box only has 4 gigs. of ram and normally 4 cores running Rosetta will
tie up around 2.8-3.0 gigs. Right now with the 2 cores working I'm
showing a little over 2 gigs working. Maybe if all 4 were really calculating
I'd be maxed out on ram and starting to swap?

I also have this log entry if it's of any help:

I'm having the same problem as well. Windows 7 machine Boing 7.0.28. It just started last night. I've noticed that the work units will churn along but no indication that any work is being done (i.e., the % figure stays at zero)

It should be safe now with the new app update. If you have any 3.43 jobs cached or running, please cancel them and update your client to get the new app update.

Thanks David! I was checking my debian boxes for this behavior but none
of them were up to the 3.43 release yet....

Thanks.

I'm Having the same problem with screen saver windows poping up.
Running a core-i7 950 extreme on vista hopme premium 64 bit.
with 4 threads running mini rosetta i get 4 seperate small windows with the screen saver framework but no graphics. i don't use any screensaver on the system. normally 4 cores on the cpu usage meter are pegged but only one core was pegged on the meter while this was happening.

Having the same reported problem with the screensaver popping up automatically since 3.43.
No progress could be observed and the popup tells me that no mem could be allocated. So the process would last forever.
Killing the process kills the calculation.

I'm using a Win7 x64 machine with Bionic 7.0.38

Abort all the 3.43 tasks as David indicated above and then click update.
