I have been running Rosetta since 2006. A couple of months ago I had some work done on my computer including upgrade from XP to Win 7 and added RAM. Since then the tasks seem to take MUCH longer to process. Typical processing time is 24 hours. I also run SETI and those tasks appear to be comparable to before the work on my computer. My computing preferences are the same. Has the size of the tasks been increased? Computer: Intel Core(TM) 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz, 6 GB RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. |

Your runtime preference is set to 24 hrs. Change it back to something less and your problems should be over. Or you can also left it how it is, since it's actually not a problem. You complete more models per WU and get more credits for it. With longer runtimes you are still doing the same amout of work per day for rosetta, but with less load for the servers. . |

Right, there is a Rosetta preference on how long you want your target runtime to be. Somehow in the upgrades it sounds like your host attached to a different BOINC locale or set of preferences. Credit is based upon the work you complete, and when you run a task for 24hrs, you complete more work on it. So with a 24hr runtime you essentially just do more models against a lower number of work units. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
