Message 72224 - Posted: 27 Jan 2012, 11:28:06 UTC

Hello,

My WU's that are finished won't upload. I got the message that project may be temporarily down, however the server page is all green at 11:26UTC.
Is it a problem at my end or does anyone else has the same 'issue'?
Greetings,

You can't go literally by the web page as it is cached, meaning it isn't really live! Some pages are cached every few minutes, some every few hours, I do not know what Rosie's time frame is.

I am 5 hours doing just to upload. I need my time however for more urgent matters. I have disabeled the firewall. I have stopped and restart BOINC, I have restart the pc and I have even restart the modem. Nothing seems to work however.

Do you need more units or do you just want to see the ones already completed sent back?

I am getting more units automatically, but the one that are ready won't upload. Some are +/- 30% complete with uploading but has taken more than 1.5 hours, without the interruptions in between. I have started on another pc and there the same with 3 WU's the others do upload normally. The upload speed is 0.05 to 7.7KbS.

That sounds like a Server problem, not one on your end.

Hi mikey, that is what i thought too. However completed WU's from Einsteind wouldn't upload as well, so i started improving the system. I made a mees off it and needed to reinstall BOINC what was a problem because the msi files were missing. I got help from the BOINC site.
No this pc is working as before without any issues. But yesterday I powered up another pc and there I ran 3 Rosetta WU's but they won't upload either. That pc isn't used often and is working fine. So 2 of my systems have (had) an issue with uploading and as no other crunchers have this issue it must be my end but I need to find out were.

Can it have anything to do with BOINC version 6.10.17?

I had problems earlier, but seems ok now.

Not sure if it's related but a new database file for v3.22 has just come down: minirosetta_database_rev47343.zip weighing in at 60Mb. If everyone's grabbing a file of that size, maybe that's what's causing the hold-up?

Just guessing.

The strange thing is that most files upload normally, but a few (2 in my case on 1 pc) will not upload, they are 3 days trying with that.
And now more people report this issue, it must be a rosie issue, but as usual no reply from admins.

Have you tried manually changing the servers address yet?

Yes mikey, I tried them all as was told in another thread.
That was working then, now it didn't.
Deadline has passed so I can delete them. Strange is that most WU's run fine.

I hope you changed it back to the default after the first batch went thru and are not still on the changed server settings?! That is what I did and it seems to be working fine for me.

Yes I set all back to normal. Its one pc, my RAC is now created by only one PC.
There I don;t have that issue. The other PC does run Einstein@home and MilkyWay@home without problems.

One other thing you can try is to do a 'reset' of Rosie, that is a box in the Boinc Manager under projects and should NOT be used lightly!! It can destroy all existing units from a Project that you have on that pc, but essentially re-downloads all the files from the Projects Server onto your pc, hopefully fixing any problems.

I am slowly bringing several of my boxes over to Rosie, I have 14 running right now, as my WCG numbers are almost up to where I want them to be.

Hi mikey,

Thanks again. I did that too a few weeks ago when another WU wouldn't upload. I even reinstalled BOINC, upgrade BOINC to 6.10.60 and even did a detach and reatach to Rosie. I also put down my firewall for a few hours to see if that was an issue. But none helped. As I was expecting, as most finished WU's of Rosie upload and report normally. One or two once in a while won't upload from one particular PC, that is very strange. Two other PC's run flawlessly (with a computate error one in a week). Odd situation, and reading here I am not the only one.
Greetings,
TJ.
