It seems from the general discourse I read on these forums that Rosetta will/is mainly being targeted at the proteins involved with the AIDS/HIV dilemma....versus cancer, MS and the host of other diseases. Not that I care because a live saved is a life saved. I am just wondering what the intial goal (or shall I say disease) Rosetta is crunching for. I know that the results can be cross related....just curious now that the number of users will be sky rocketing.....are we taking on work that the World Community Grid or AIDS@home is already fighting? Thanks and Cheers. |

It seems from the general discourse I read on these forums that Rosetta will/is mainly being targeted at the proteins involved with the AIDS/HIV dilemma....versus cancer, MS and the host of other diseases. At the current time, we're not crunching for a disease. It's still early enough in the project that we're working on refining Rosetta itself. Rather than simply using a tool to fight a disease, we're actually helping to design the tool itself. Once we're done, then quite a large number of things can be targetted. HIV is one, Malaria is another, Cancer, Alzheimers, etc. the list goes on. David Baker discusses some of that here, but I get the impression that the list he gives in his first post is by no means exhaustive. That's just some targets that they're looking at initially. |
