What messages are shown in the BOINC Manager when you update to Rosetta? Does it say it is requesting new work? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

What messages are shown in the BOINC Manager when you update to Rosetta? Does it say it is requesting new work? Thank you Mod.Sense: As I have shut down computer since, I have not got exact wording. On requesting new work I think the reply was: no jobs available. If this happpens again, I will get in contact with you. Many thanks anyway. |

Since you are running on Windows, that message implies your machine requested work and did not receive any. This should be a temporary situation, and in fact if pretty rare with this project. If you were on a Mac, the message might say there is not work for your platform. This is because not all Rosetta work can be run on a Mac, and there is not always work available that can be run on a Mac (in fact, it is now fairly rare to see work that can be run on Mac). You mean to say the old PPC Macs rarely get work here. As far as I know Intel-based Macs can crunch any workunits Windows machines can crunch. My Mac has never run out of Rosetta work. To clarify, there is a PPC Mac version of the Rosetta Beta application but that application is rarely used these days. The vast majority of work is completed with the newer Rosetta Mini application for which there is a Mac OS X/Intel version but no PPC version. |

Yes, thanks for correcting me Snagletooth. It dawned on me later that I should have said PPC Mac. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
