I was logged in and attempted to edit my profile to be told that I need 10 credits to do so. I have been a member since 3 Sep 2007 with 207,910 credits. What am I doing wrong or need to do to edit my profile? |

Pete, I have another ID (non-moderator) with a decaying RAC (under .1) and was able to change a number of settings in the profile and didn't have any problems. What specifically were you trying to change? And at what point did you see the error? Before or after entering what you wanted the change to be? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Pete, I have another ID (non-moderator) with a decaying RAC (under .1) and was able to change a number of settings in the profile and didn't have any problems. I need to edit my profile for it contains information that I do not want people to see. I just completed this task in all other projects from A-R with no problems. 1. I log in to my account. 2. I clicked Profile View. 3. I clicked Edit your Profile. At this stage the Profile view disappears and a message notifies me that: "To prevent spam an average of 10 credits or greater is required to edit a profile. Note that the word RAC is not mentioned. If I can not edit my own profile I will just detach and forget about Rosetta. No other projects require this when I have accrued credits of thousands. Come to think of it even that will not fix the problem as I still be registered as a member and others will be able to view my profile. |

>>> it contains information that I do not want people to see A statement guaranteed to draw many to read it! Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

By the way it is worded "an average credit of..." that would tend to indicate RAC. I see now, that is the "community" portion of your profile. This is where you enter your background and opinion of Rosetta. But I don't see those displayed in your profile. The only other thing is your avatar. But your EMail address (which other volunteers cannot see) and other details are in other portions of your profile which I believe you can view and edit without a RAC. You might click on the link in the preferences section of the page, just above where you were. There you can upload an avatar and select that it is to be used. That would (I'm thinking) then appear rather then the one you have now. It isn't something I can change. So, we'll have to wait until the Project Team returns to see how the setting might be changed to allow you to at least delete information without a RAC, that certainly seems reasonable to me. I believe the intention was to do the opposite, prevent people from display pictures of SPAM etc. without crunching. So, this looks like an unintended side-effect. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

3. I clicked Edit your Profile. At this stage the Profile view disappears and a message notifies me that: "To prevent spam an average of 10 credits or greater is required to edit a profile. For example, I just read it, but not until after you indicated it would be interesting. If you're looking for another BOINC project, check World Computing Grid if they aren't already on your list. They currently have two subprojects related to cancer research, and one related to muscular dystrophy. You might want to check the server status of Rosetta@home; currently, about half of their server programs aren't running. Does it look possible that a program needed for editting your profile happens to be one of them? If so, it could easily be a few days before someone who knows how to restart that program returns from the Christmas/New Year holidays. |
