I keep finding Rosetta - and other BOINC apps with short run times - "Ready to report" and I manually update them to get them to report ASAP. I would like Rosetta to take my results promptly as soon as they are finished but haven't been able to find a preference to make this happen. Any advice please?

That is the normal behavior, and here are a couple of references for you to review for your background.

Having said that, there is an option in the configuration file to report results immediately. It should really only be used for some special circumstance where the machine might get reloaded or something and the result might otherwise not get reported. It is called the <report_results_immediately> option in the cc_config.xml file.
