I can only see my boincmgr under the root account. It still running in services when under another user account. I cant see whats going on at all unless I log off as a user and log back under Root. Any ideas how I can see boincmgr running under a user account. It comes up with connection refused under a typical user account. |

There are several methods to do this... Let BOINC ran as seperate user and in a seperate homedirectory. It's not recommended to let applications (non daemons) running as root. Add all the users, which should able to start the BOINC Manager in the same group. Give the BOINC directory permitions to read the BOINC directory, read permitions to gui_rpc_auth.cfg, read and execute rights for the BOINC manager binary. Other users has no permitions for the BOINC directory. Change the User in your startup script. Now, as other user, change to the BOINC directory and start the BOINC manager. In a normal installation, it should be posible for all users to change in the BOINC directory and start the BOINC manager from there. |
