A strange one for me. I started seeing this -- on only one workstation and only with Rosetta when trying to report a handful of workunits -- started yesterday. The other projects on the same workstation have no problem (aside from SETI where their database server has gone walkabout since last night). What I did to try to correct the problem: Unloaded/reloaded BOINC -- no change Cleared proxy server cache -- no change Power cycled workstation -- no change Uninstalled BOINC 5.10.20, installed 5.10.45 -- no change. Then, I dumped out Rosetta -- detached project and then joined new -- no change. So for that workstation, I've simply detached Rosetta and left it detached. Again, the problem is specific to one workstation, and specific to Rosetta, other projects are fine on that workstation, and other workstations in the same location (there are 5 workstations there) are fine with Rosetta. Seems quite odd, and the end solution is not an ideal one (killing off Rosetta on the workstation entirely). Comments? |

...and so the message "incomplete request received" is what you were seeing in the messages tab of your BOINC Manager? The only thing I can think of would be your internet connectivity may be cutting out just as your request is being sent. Which would certainly effect other projects... but if it is a random event, they may have lucked out. Or perhaps their requests are shorter and so less likely to see such a problem. Does the problem happen to be on one of your Vista machines? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Nope -- it is a trusty XP-SP2 plus current updates. I re-checked connectivity -- no problems either with other projects or other internet activity on any of the other workstations on that set. (There are four workstations sharing the same switch behind the same router configuration there). Only with Rosetta, and (curiously to me) this was going on even after a full set of troubleshooting, up to and including a detach. At this point, on that workstation, Rosetta is not in the mix at all, I will probably give it another shot this evening after making sure I'm trying a full clean configuration (no leftover project folder, that sort of thing). Nope -- it is a trusty XP-SP2 plus current updates. I'm having this exact same problem, with the circumstances the same, as far as I can tell (XP SP2 current updates, Rosetta detached, trying to re-attach). Here's the messages in case it helps: 28/04/2008 4:01:04 p.m.||Fetching configuration file from https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/get_project_config.php 28/04/2008 4:01:30 p.m.|https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/|Scheduler list download succeeded 28/04/2008 4:01:30 p.m.|https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/|Sending scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi 28/04/2008 4:01:30 p.m.|https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/|Reason: Requested by user 28/04/2008 4:01:30 p.m.|https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/|Requesting 259200 seconds of new work 28/04/2008 4:01:31 p.m.|https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/|Scheduler request succeeded 28/04/2008 4:01:31 p.m.|rosetta@home|Message from server: Incomplete request received. 28/04/2008 4:01:31 p.m.|rosetta@home|Resetting project 28/04/2008 4:01:31 p.m.||Rescheduling CPU: exit_tasks 28/04/2008 4:01:31 p.m.|rosetta@home|Detaching from project As th previous poster stated, nothing seems to work.
