My computer usually takes about 8k seconds to do a work unit and gets awarded ~8-9credits. The last work unit it returned took 3x as long (~25k seconds) and got the same 8.38credits! As I thought this was wrong I started looking into it and got even more confused. Looking at the result page shows a granted credit figure of 8.38 where as looking at the work unit page shows a granted credit figure of 38.8, as reported/requested. Can anyone explain (a) why the granted credit was so low and/or (b) why the two pages show different amounts? Cheers, MacDitch |

both pages show a granted credit of 8.38! Granted credit is the number of decoys (models) produced within the task, multiplied by the average credit claimed for that type of decoy submitted to the Rosetta servers. Basically a task will contain as many decoys as your computer can manage, but some decoys take more processing than others on a given machine. |

My computer usually takes about 8k seconds to do a work unit and gets awarded ~8-9credits.......... Hello MacDitch, The workunit you mentioned have been run by the minirosetta 1.07. The 1.07 seems to grant less credit compared with the 5.93 on some computers (like mine). However a difference of about 10 times between claimed and granted credit seems a bit unlucky. Ralph@home (Rosetta's alpha project) is already working on the minirosetta 1.08. I'm not sure when a new minirosetta application will be introduced on R@h. Have a nice day, Path7. |

both pages show a granted credit of 8.38! The fifth line down on the work unit summary says Granted Credit: 38.79 although I agree that if you look further down the page at the task details it does say granted credit is 8.38. This is part of why I'm confused! The workunit you mentioned have been run by the minirosetta 1.07. The 1.07 seems to grant less credit compared with the 5.93 on some computers (like mine). I can understand that, but I would have thought a reduction the size I'm seeing would have been flagged if not outright changed. Is this just a one off anomoly? |

ah - you're right. That looks like a web page issue for the Rosetta Devs... |

Hello MacDitch, Is this just a one off anomaly? Yes, I guess the very low credit granted to this WU is an exception to the rule. ah - you're right. That looks like a web page issue for the Rosetta Devs... As dcdc just mentioned: There seems to be a web page error on every “Workunit details” page. I have just overlooked that before. And guess what? I see the same odd thing on Ralph@home! Have a nice day, Path7. |

Thanks for pointing this out. It was apparently a carryover from the standard BOINC setup where the same task is sent to redundant machines and a quorum is reached to determine credit. Since Rosetta doesn't grant credit that way, the line item for credit for the work unit (not the specific task of the WU) has been removed. Rosetta grants credit for each specific task, even if one WU results in more then one task being created under it. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
