What is minirosetta? It totally locks up my computer. I can't open new tasks, tasks won't terminate and the task manager can't kill it. My only option is to pull the power plug.

Since I Can't afford instability, I MUST stop all rosetta work.

Rosetta won't request anymore work for me. The mini ran fine and beta units ran after it. Now that I have reported all the work back it keeps requesting 0 seconds of work. All I've gotten today is SETI WUs. Hope they send a patch out soon.

BOINC's scheduler doesn't always see the world the way a person does. This thread sheds some light on how the scheduler sees things. And some things to look for or consider before concluding there's any problem.

Interesting problem:

The ESET NOD32 AntiVirus V3.0.x heuristics quarantined downloads of the executables:
minirosetta_1.15_windows_intelx86.exe & minirosetta_graphics_1.15_windows_intelx86.exe, as possible threats.

I forwarded both files to ESET for analysis with a comment that it is extremely unlikely they are malware. We'll see what they say. I've used NOD32 for several years and find it an excellent product--and not just because it's made in San Diego, where I live. This is the first time I've ever seen it have a problem with ANY BOINC-related code or data files of the ten projects I subscribe to.

Best wishes,
J. Whalen

I have a bunch of minirosetta W/U's bombing, also. This is on intel quad cores
not overclocked. Computational error. Don't know what's the deal. Error '107374'. Minirosetta 1.15.

amgthis, there isn't really anything you can do on your end to resolve a problem like that. The Project Team monitors the "Problems with..." threads on the Number Crunching board if you'd like to post there to bring it to their attention.

I have the same problem, although task manager eventually killed Boinc. I am using Vista, and this is a problem going back a couple of weeks, but has been getting worse. I have had to stop minirosetta. Jim
