on this dual channel memory, whats the difference between that and single channel memory? can a stick of dual channel work alongside a stick of single channel? and this dual channel memory is capable of working with my existing mobo? i just might go this route for awhile and then look into another cpu for this mobo after christmas.

My understand is that there is no difference in memory. The capability is in the memory controller on the motherboard. If I'm also not mistaken, this concept of "dual channel" is false. What is really does is interlace the memory access between chips. Every other bit goes to a memory stick; they alternate bits. This allows the memory controller to put more bits into memory at a time, especially when the CPU is writing a large area of memory at a time. In order for interlacing to work correctly, you need two of the same speed/size memory sticks.

Greg, you can stick a dual channel pair togehter with any other Ram on this CPU, because the 754 AMDs dont have a dual channel controller (thats basicly their difference to Socket 939 CPUs).

Also, if you plan to use dual channel in the future, you need exactly the same sticks, even different weeks of produce from the same brand might not work - I had this once with a pair of 256 MB DDR ram, that where exactly the same, only the week of produce was different, resulting in my system crashing with a bluescreen pretty often. When you use 4 Ram sticks and want to go dual channel, each pair can differ in brand and size.
