How do I get the Rosetta calculation part without downloading through BOINC.

e.g. I use dial-up
I have BOINC Manager/Rosetta attached and working nicely.

Now how do I transfer this to another computer.

I can install BOINC Manager no problem as I can download it :D
But then I have to attach and download the rossetta code each time, hence I'm putting it off and certainly not good it new code is released.

So How do I just download one copy and use it on all the other computers.

I and a few of my team members would like to know. 4Mb+ download for all the PC's is expensive and timely.

I don't know, for sure, whether you can just copy the rosetta client to the others computers because I think you'd have up update some xml files.

But you could look into setting up those machines as an annonymous platform using app_info.xml - see this link

Basically you'd put the correct app_info.xml and the copy of the client into:

BOINC_INSALL_DIRprojectsboinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta

and the boinc client should run the Rosetta client. The app_info.xml will stop the boinc client from trying to download the official Rosetta client and use the one you copied computer to the machine. You would have to update the app_info.xml every time there's a new Rosetta app, but you'll also have to copy the new version over anyways, so it's not that much more work.

(This is also how people using the optimized seti clients instead of the official client)

I haven't tried this with Rosetta so i don't know if it works. I do know that it works for seti.

Copy Rosetta app from one computer to another into rosetta projects directory.

When BOINC finds this app on that computer it says "the application already presents" or something like this and skips downloading of the app.

Thanks both,
Pretty simple really :D

To Setup :
I just copied the whole directoy over, removing the latest files (most porbably the jobs)

Attached, and of it went skipping the files and only downloading the jobs.

For Future :

If I see a large file download i'll halt networking (it halted most the time anyway) and let one grab the large files then I can transfer it.

Would be nice if Rosetta gave a download link to these large files (e.g. the calculation program ;) rosetta....vx.xx ) so I can go somewhere else and get them individually.

Maybe an idea to look into higher compression!
