Just installed BOINC 5.10.13 and uninstalled, reverting to 5.8.16. Commands were all greyed out and Websites nonexistant. |

maybe that's why 5.10.13 is the only official release from the BOINC website? |

Tried again. Seems to be good this time, at first glance. |

Just installed BOINC 5.10.13 and uninstalled, reverting to 5.8.16. How about this: Buttons are grayed out if no task or project is selected. |

Just installed BOINC 5.10.13 and uninstalled, reverting to 5.8.16. thats normal in all versions, how else is it going to know whether you wanting RAH or SETI information or whoever else your attached to? each has their own message board url's and stats and such. so don't be to worried about that, unless when you click on the WU and nothing happens, then that is a interesting problem. |

Yes, but MichaelL should check to see if that is what happened, no?Just installed BOINC 5.10.13 and uninstalled, reverting to 5.8.16. indeed he should, but since he didn't state that I went for the more obvious answer. |

thanks for the advice. Did everyone read the whole of message 44268 and then my message 44278. all those messages state is that everything runs fine. so it would seem that your system is running fine now as well. |

BOINC 5.10.13 has an option, to enable crunching only when user is inactive. Following option caused many VALIDATE ERROR with Rosetta for me. Please confirm or deny that. |

Your results show that your tasks that got validation errors and no credit were ended by the Rosetta "watchdog". This watchdog is there to assure that your machine is making progress on each task and it doesn't get stuck in any sort of loop. In your case, it appears you began using the computer, thus interrupting the task, then let it go idle, thus continuing the task, several times in a row. And it all happened before the task was able to reach a checkpoint. Some tasks take longer then others to reach a checkpoint and preserve their work. Suggest that if the machine is used, and not just sitting in a corner, and you wish to not run BOINC while the machine is in use... that you set the General Preference to leave applications in memory (virtual memory) while preempted. That will allow the task to continue where it left off, rather then having to start again from the last checkpoint. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

This watchdog is there to assure that your machine is making progress on each task and it doesn't get stuck in any sort of loop. unfortunatley, this will also happen if the computer is powered on and off a few times in a row if rosetta doesn't manage to reach a checkpoint, even if leave in memory is selected. I'm fairly sure it still gives that same 'Keep application in memory while preempted' error in this situation. Piotr, I'd be very suprised if you were able to notice Rosetta running full time on a machine as powerful and with as much RAM as yours - are you able to set it to run always? HTH Danny |
