I have a four hour runtime and usually get anywhere between 1 and 30 decoys, depending on the computer. This work unit was uploaded with 353! Is that normal? https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=81158543 |

Yes! These are my runs and they are as you point out very fast. Suspiciously fast one might think, but everything is as should be. Thanks for keeping an eye on this! |

Wow, now this is a lot of decoys: From one of my WU's ====================================================== DONE :: 1 starting structures 86400.4 cpu seconds This process generated 1629 decoys from 1629 attempts Though, I do run my for 24 hours each. ;-) Cool. |

Yes I have seen that an occassional one give heaps of decoys while the others only small numbers Celeron1 (WU 73066862)= 253 Celeron2 (WU 72935383)= 260 Celeron3 (WU 73068644)= 302 Opteron 275 (WU 73172179)= 436 Opteron 275 (WU 73128010)= 500 All on 6 hour run times. During the same period have also seen as low as 4 decoys. |

this wu produced 473 decoys in 6 hrs. so if you multiply that by 4 would give you 1892 decoys on a AMD 2800+ cpu. run time was 21583.6 seconds |

OK, this may be a stupid question, but my curiousity has no bounds. What pray tell is the purpose for the decoy? Have yet to see any sign of them on my boxes? Antony |

see here for what the terms mean. Decoy is in the list as well. OK, this may be a stupid question, but my curiousity has no bounds. What pray tell is the purpose for the decoy? Have yet to see any sign of them on my boxes? |

Seems a "decoy" is a hold over term from when they felt they were searching for the one and only exactly perfect matching structure. In other words, you are crunching along and things look ok, and so you think you are on to the right model, but later find it didn't match the native structure and you were following a "decoy". There is the native structure, and anything else is a decoy. Decoys are the models of how this protein or RNA, of docking pair COULD appear in nature. The more models you study, the more likely that one of them is correct, or very close. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
