an option to shutdown after checkpoint would be nice! I remember back in the day when RM's UDMon allowed that... |

I'm trying to write a little app which does the same as River's bash script. But I think the best would be if the BOINC developers could implement such a feature in the BOINC client. |

Thanks for the replies, another possible nice feature (to some) would be if BOINC or Rosetta could have an option to play an audible warning or pop-up a message box when a checkpoint is reached. This feature would need to be configurable by the user as many would not want it, but some would. I have also seen that "more frequent checkpoints" is in progress in RALPH, I hope it arrives soon. This feature would need to be configurable by the user as many would not want it, but some would. Just an option to run a program or file at checkpoint would be enough - then users could select a shutdown/standby/hibernate script, audio file, or anything else... |

I've written a little tool, called stopatcheckpoint :P. You can download it here. You can start the batch file to shutdown your computer if the result 0 checkpoints. Feel free to edit the batch file and replace the shutdown with something other. You get the result id for any running workunit by calling "sacp.exe" without parameters. Make sure you specify the path to client_state.xml (in your BOINC directory) if sacp.exe can't find it. There are a few other options, just call "sacp.exe /?" and a little help is shown. |

There is a debug setting you can use to get Boinc to display the checkpoints in the messages tab. 5.8.15 - <task_debug> 5.8.16 - <checkpoint_debug> These are configured via cc_config.xml (see Ageless's FAQ on the main Boinc forum for more details). Be aware that some projects (for example, Einstein) will generate huge amounts of text from some debug settings. |

Hi christoph I've just run the util on a PC that i'm setting up. Only problem is the exe is looking for BOINC in c:program filesboinc while mine's installed to h:boinc Any chance you could make it configurable? cheers! Danny |

Hi christoph Hi, it's already configurable! (run "sacp.exe /?") Make sure you specify the path to client_state.xml (in your BOINC directory) if sacp.exe can't find it. sacp.exe /P "H:BOINCclient_state.xml" /R ... But it seems the app is still very buggy, especially when a workunit finishes. I'm trying to sort out this problem. |
