Hi everyone, I'm new in this project and I'd like to say "hello !" :) Are there things I should take a closer look at ? Problems ? etc. Thank you, Anne © anne schmidt Weblog - PublicView |

Here are a few links to get you oriented. Q&A (read it oldest entry first. I need to summarize the most recent entries and have the moderators make it pretty again). If you have used BOINC on other projects, then especially this QA item. Project Information Index Here is one way to think about how Rosetta works. Especially now that they have some docking work units running. Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |

Bienvenue a Rosetta, Anne If we go on meeting like this, people will talk about us ;-) It is worth reading David's journal every so often, you can get to it from the science board (it is a sticky thread, so it is always near the top) or it has its own link from the main page. The other links on the front page are worth looking at to get a feel for the science, and also some of threads on the science board. This project is involved in developing the methods for doing protein structures - this means it is more often hit by bugs than some other projects -- it is more reliable than an official beta project, but less reliable than some production projects. There is always a thread to post errors relating to the latest version of the Rosetta application. To find this thread, go to the number crunching board, it may be a sticky thread near the top of that board. If not, then put "Rosetta problems version 5.36" into the search boxon any message board page, and Google will find you the thread. Change 5.36 to whatever version of Rosetta you have, or course :) Finally, you get to choose how long your work runs for on this project - you can ask for wu to run for only 1hour, or for 1 day, or for several different choices in between. This is the cpu time for the wu, of course. Until you choose, Rosetta will asume you want 3hr runs -- but it is entirely up to you. If you want longer runs, increase it in stages, less than double each time, as going all the way from 3hrs to 24hrs in one step can confuse boinc. I woudl go 3 -> 4 -> 6 -> 10 -> 16 -> 1day for example, and I would let the client crunch each batch of work before changing the setting again. You find this option in the Rosetta project specific options. If you do not know what you prefer, one suggestion is to choose the value that will last 1 day of calendar time. If Rosetta runs for 25% on that box, choose 6hrs, and so on. By the way, this option came out of a discussion between participants, and it says a lot for this project that the programmers were happy to implement it. I am also very proud of this option myself, being one of the three people whose discussion led to it happening (together with Feet1st and BillMichael). It feels nice to be in a project where the team listen to us. R~~ |

I'm not new to Rosetta, but I don't remember saying "Hello". So, "Hello" to everybody. Hi Dan! Hi @nne! Maverick, Maverick ... where did I see your name again ? Hah, you've created a poll somewhere (unable to remember where because I'm part of too many forums, I'm afraid ... :() about your avatar, haven't you ? I took a look at your propositions, but I haven't been able to chose, sorry ... Mine is an axtract of a painting I made two years ago. I've never wanted to call it "Self portrait", but today I tend to think about it as an "autoportrait". You should be able to find an image that symbolises you, I think. :) Anne © anne schmidt Weblog - PublicView |
