It's not easy to put EVERYTHING back where it needs to be. So best to let BOINC do that itself. Suggest you detach from Rosetta... then attach again to get a fresh start. 50 WUs? For one machine? You may want to consider increasing your WU runtime preference gradually over time. You'll do just as much valuable science work for the project, and do so with much less demand on their servers and on your network. Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |

deleted from your tasks tab on the manager, or deleted from "your results" on the website? |

Ive reconstituted the files This never works with BOINC files - not if you use undelete as you mentioned in a previous post. This is because BOINC keeps track of which files it knows about, what they are for, etc, in client_state.xml For a brief while, you might have been able to save things by 1. stopping BOINC, 2. undeleting the files as you did, 3. renaming client_state.xml to client_state_saved.xml, 4. renaming client_state_prev.xml to client_state.xml, 5. restarting BOINC however sometimes this will create a bigger mess, if files that client_state_prev refer to have been deleted since, and were not recovered by your step 2. Until you are confident that this will not happen again, one thing you can do is to copy the entire BOINC folder to (say) BOINC-bkp. Copying an entire folder back always works, but can leave you re-crinching work you already did. Did these files relate to work that had been done, or work that was waiting to run, or some mix? My adivce, DO NOT TRY TO GET THEM BACK Reset Rosetta@Home and start out again, keep an eye on what is happening (in the messege tab) There are more options for greater logging if it is still a problem. There is little point in trying to get them back it will just cause a greater mess and is not worth it. The tasks (wu) you had are not of that great an important to Rosetta@Home if they have not been started and certainly not worth your effort getting them back. Everything will sort itself out and Rosetta@Home will gain much more by you crunching rather than trying to get them back. I say this dur to the nature of Rosetta@Homes tasks. Team mauisun.org |

have you got any messages about a lack of disk space under the messages tab? No I have not gotten any messages about a lack of disk space. The WUs have a size of 85Mb and on the disk is about 17Gb space free.
Yeah, i resigned to that fact. I use for a while xcopy and taskplaner to copy the BOINC folder continous (every 6 hours) to a backup folder. The failure is happened after some problems with the spinhenge-server, maybe thats the cause of my problems. Hoping it will not happen again in the future. Many thanks for your help. |
