I just loaded this folding thing last night for the first time, and started my first project. I was just wondering... it said the CPU time for this project was 4 hours. I left it running overnight, and it said it was a few minutes in. I am running a AMD 2.8GHZ CPU, and I gave the program 100% of the CPU to use. Is it always like this, or did I do something wrong?

Check the thread "Report Problems With 5.34" and see if there are similar problems. This does sound familiar.

Also see "Low Scores Anyone?" as I can't remember the exact thread.

The Rosetta crew is aware of these problems and hope to have them fixed with the next release probably by end week.

In the meantime I would definitely report this on the "Report Problems with 5.34" Thread.

Looks like most of your results are showing the same file access error on your stderr out:

That error was fixed by rebooting my computer. Once I did that, it started working. The problem now is that, for example, after it was processing at 100% load (according to Speedfan) for about 30 minutes, the CPU Time listed by the R@H program was like, 1 minute 30 seconds.

Where are you seeing that Rosetta is only getting 1min 30 seconds of cpu time every 30 mins? Is that from Boinc, from windows task manager, or some other program?

And if you pull up the windows task manager.. what process or processes is/are getting the most cpu time?

I'm seeing the CPU Time number from Boinc itself. After 30 minutes real time of running, it was at around 1 minute 30 seconds of CPU Time.

I haven't checked the Windows Task Manager yet, but when I hit start on Boinc Speedfan was registering 0% CPU usage, and after I started it the CPU usage went to 100%.

OK, I switched AVG Antivirus and ZoneAlarm off, and it seems to have picked up speed. It's still not running at full speed, though.

It is taking 40 seconds to complete 10 seconds of CPU time. Grr... what is going on here.

Yes, it was installed under the Administrator login (it's the only login I have). I installed it as a single user install.

Another weird thing I noticed is that my CPU temperature isn't hitting what it should be hitting under full load. With Prime95, I hit around 51C under full load, but with BOINC, I only seem to be hitting the mid 40's...

Soren, welcome! CPU Time is accurate? Yes! I have three computers running BOINC/Rosetta 24/365: Intel Celeron M 1.4 GHz/Win XP, Intel Pentium III 730 MHz/Win 2000 Pro, and AMD K6-III ~400 MHz/Win 2000 Pro.

...which indicates that you were either "suspend" or run based on preferences. And so it begs the question... what preferences did you set? These would be found in the "General preferences". There are some for hours of day when you want BOINC to run. You can also set hours of day for network acitivity (handy to keep the network free during the day at work!).

While you are there, you may want to review and set so that you "Leave applications in memory while suspended?" (i.e. set it to YES).

I had it on "Run based on preferences". It should have been running all the time based on the settings I put in general preferences, but it didn't seem to do that.

Just looked up my error on Google... it looks like other people have had this problem when the graphics are showing. I never turn them on but for some reason BOINC was set for my screensaver. I've turned it off, hopefully that will fix my problem.

*sigh* OK, it has slowed to a crawl AGAIN. No idea why. It's still set on Run Always, with 100% of CPU.

Even though you have your BOINC manager set to Run Always, be sure you have this setting in your General Preferences (in your account settings):

Do work while computer is in use? = YES
