Jose, we the Teddies when setting up our alternate Boinc forum stated we would like visits from staff but understood they were busy. We were told at that time the scientist`s were too busy to go round and check/post at everyones forum. Which was fine we were not aggrieved by that, it was an open invitation. We didn`t directly invite Dr. Baker formally, inviting a General to a Privates mess is not the done thing for us. Geeky is in :) All I wanted to point out that there was nothing nefarious on the invitaion. Rabble rousers from other teams are able to register and to post and to read and to copy stuff from our MB ( lol lol lol lol lol I am joking , people I am joking with the use of the adjective) . I thought there was nothing wrong in inviting the Big Honcho. Saenger: I doubt any team would not let him post, that is not the issue. As to the fact that we are not like anyother team and we decided to invite him; dont blame us for the others not thinking about it. I think some of the stock DC philosophy/sociology may need to be rethought, if a plain act of courtesy is constructed as a nefarious plot. I wont use the adjective that came into my mind to describe the situation , it would be inflamatory. |

I wont use the adjective that came into my mind to describe the situation , it would be inflamatory. The invitation and the posting as such was never something that offended anybody. It was the content, that seemed to imply disdain to small crunchers and implied the possibility to make one side of a running flamewar mods that incited this. |

About my post to David Baker, it is adressed to him as it seems that I have got his attention here. And I see that the minusers are busy, maybe they should consider to disable the rating function, as it has been on the Seti boards. It seems to me that it has started to be abused here as well as over there, before it was disabled. Anyway, I'm outta here. "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Teddies MB is a temple of sanity compared to ours. I have to admit your joke section is better. As crunchers you could have had a lot to say to Dr Baker... make him see the other side of the project..the crunchers side . So please do not undervalue what your team could had offered. Dr Baker was addresing our concerns. And I hope you noticed that Many members of our team , me included were lets say a tad annoyed at the issue of backdating..so gueswhat , he used the open invitation he had and talked to us. If anything , this shows his concern for the project and the crunchers. In other type of projects, developers would not even care . ( Note : I am not talking DC exclusevely) . So the man is human, and not perfect and busy and over busy and trying to balance a gazillion things at a time, please dont try to convert his act of civility and concern in a nefarious plot against others. |

Jose, your invitation to Dr.Baker was good there was nothing wrong in that and if he wants to post at XS that is good too. What does APPEAR wrong is that he was saying things that should have rightly be said here too. You were NOT wrong, it appears, not only my opinion but others, that in this instance DR.Baker was wrong in what he did. I`m not saying Dr.Baker was plotting with XS at all, I`m saying he made a social boo-boo a mistake. Not the mistake was going to XS, that was great but he departed information that at that time seriously was needed here. Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-) Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM. |

Saenger: the content could have easily been and I am sure it was the result of poor sentence structure. He is a scientist not a grammarian. Peace Jose |

What does APPEAR wrong is that he was saying things that should have rightly be said here too. Let's not blame him for being human and worrying and trying to smooth some ruffled waters. Lets not read more intent into an obviously miscontructed sentence. Carl you are a rational man. Let me ask you a question. Did you really thought there was a chance at backdating? David Baker was stating at XtremeSystems what should have been obvious to all. Where he went wrong was in even entretaining the theoretical posibility of backdating. That is the problem with scientists they get involved in theories.. I will stop here. This post is getting close to being OT and of being rigtfully edited. |

I think we`re all agreed that Dr.Baker made a mistake.... Now do we forgive and move forward or Would you like to keep him in the doghouse longer, which imho serves no purpose. Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-) Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM. |

I think we`re all agreed that Dr.Baker made a mistake.... Dont agree 100% on the mistake part. We can agree 100% on the moving forward part. I imagine he has aged eons during these last days.. |

Did you really thought there was a chance at backdating? To be honest, that episode meant nothing to me personally. I thought it would be a complex exercise with little REAL results. Yes I can see where people would say we can see what is real what is not etc., We can carry on being as Israel and Lebanon or we can move on, the peace won`t be easy, we`ve old war wounds, but it`s our choice. We can carry on talking about what has been or we can talk about what might be next week, month, year. I think the important thing now is to discuss the merits of the NEW points system without referring back. Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-) Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM. |

Jose, It was stated at Ralph that there was going to be backdating and there was a lot of talk going on about punishing people before all of the fuss broke out. It seems now though that this decision has been reversed, so I wont go on and on about it and turn this thread completely off topic by doing so. My last post on that point BTW. |

Did you really thought there was a chance at backdating? We can carry on and we should carry on with the respect each other deserves. and yes , of course, looking back at old wounds is not productive. Peace. And btw ty for caring. |

I think we`re all agreed that Dr.Baker made a mistake.... I think we have agreed there are differences among us but there are things that unite us. That is progress. :) Peace. |
