Question:1

Does anyone know if the error report "on the task below is fixable"?, if so what can I do to resovle this please.... Or is this and issues for the submitted job and needed task workunit to be updated by the researcher or coding?. i.e out of my hands and systems.

Each of your failed tasks says it cannot find the Database directory. What are you using for anti-virus? Sometimes they don't like the large .zip file that stores the database.

Since your machine does not seem to be getting very far on any tasks, I would suggest you reset the project. Doing so will cause all tasks to be aborted, but that doesn't look like it will be a problem for you, since none of the tasks are running more than 30 seconds anyway.

Hi ,

Thank you for getting back to me on the subject and issues.

I should have pointed out that I did perform the following after I first observed the error(s) in the log file:
These were all installed as "Admin" user and allocated 30+GB and run BOINC with a high enough user profile.

1. Suspend, and restart the project task (x 2)
- No Change
2. Remove the project from BOINC and then re-install it. (x 2)
- No Change
3. Reset the Project
- No Change
4. Remove project and then unload BOINC program, reload ~BOINC and Add Rossetta Project again
- No Change

The above was the most obivous self help to I could do first.

Not Done yet.

= 5#. Remove all projects, uninstall BOINC, clear all files/databases, then reinstall the lot from start, but if the above 1-4 actions did't fix it I wondered if the option 5 would be time well spent, but I'm happy to take on baord any help/ advice to move things forward.

If it works ok for a few weeks, I could then setup another 8-15 machines VM to help on a rackmount servers, but wanted some idea what a fully working Grid system would belike to bench mark before all the effort to build these systems.

Thanks for that. It is XP Service Pack3, plus all updates until MS stop support. I removed all Anti-Virus software as the unit is on a seperate VLAN outbound to the Interest only, so was a low risk and as its imaged, re-instate ment is quick also..

Do you know if the working ones are XP SP3 with or without Anti-Virus?, and does te app/task need .NET framework, if so which verison (3.5)?

No idea what is different between working and nonworking XP systems. Just that some people have working systems using XP, others are unable to get theirs to work.

Thanks, I try a few options (if I get a working solution... will publish here) , otherwise will just rebuild on a Linux platform. if XP is a bit hit and miss, best use time efficiently.

That would be the quickest & the best option; you need a 64bit OS to be able to use use all of your available RAM. Even so, you may still run in to some RAM issues. While the present mix of Tasks use barely any RAM (approx 800MB per Task or less), some Tasks use as much as3GB, many use 1 to 1.4GB.

Thanks for the Info guide.

These would be based on DELL PowerEdge or HP Proliant 64Bit/Quad cores with min 4GB, will decide if they will use local partitions or part of a SAN if I can section this off. Will run trial on one 1st to see how this performs before cloning, but may need speparate account for each instance, so this aspect will be explored.
