I'm getting unpredictable behavior from an Odroid N2 with 4 GB memory. It has completed only a few work units. Typicaly at some point it simply freezes and I cannot ssh into it - only option is to pull the plug to restart. At that BOINC starts running again, but if I wait too long it freezes. I've tried reducing the memory and CPU limits but so far that has not helped. I don't have this problem with a Ryzen 7 2700x with 16 threads, which also performs more than 10 times as fast. Does anyone have a successful experience and/or specific tips for Odroid N2? |

an addendum: the N2 has 6 CPUs: 4 fast, 2 slow. I'm not sure if BOINC is smart enough to choose only the 4 fast CPUs. It's possible also that the N2 is overheating, though I've run fully parallel jobs on the 4 fast CPUs before. At this point if I activate BOINC it runs for only a few minutes, then freezes. |

Looks, from the profile of the host, that BOINC sees 6 CPUs, and 3.7GB of memory. Do you know how many tasks BOINC is trying to start? I would suggest you set the % of the number of CPUs to 50% or lower, so it doesn't get too many things running at the same time. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Thanks for the input. Setting CPU and memory usage to 70% keeps it from freezing, though now it's using only 3 of the 4 fast cores. Not sure whether it's worth it in any event - my 8-core Ryzen 7 is performing over 20 times as fast! |
