I have been running Rosetta@home on a refurbished computer. It's a temporary stopgap until I can replace my main (Windows 7) computer. It's woefully under powered, but does get SOME work done. However I'm getting an odd message quite frequently. In Boinc Manager, go to the Options menu and select Event Log Options... without changing anything click Save. In the Projects menu, select Rosetta and click the update button. You'll see that it tries to send any completed tasks you have, collect new tasks if you need them and next to Rosetta say "Communication deferred" with a countdown from 31 seconds If you look at the event log again there's a little more information than there was, before showing "Project requested delay of 31 seconds" The latest version added that line about a delay but somehow forgot to show the information it was showing previously. That Save in the Event Log Options dialog box brings it back. Nothing at all to worry about and easily rectified |

Greetings, Woohoo!!! In just 3.5 months, give or take, I finally reached a million credits. On to the next million. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Greetings, Impressive. Now you can consider increasing your runtime from 4hrs to 6hrs before bringing it up to the default 8hrs after another suitable amount of time |

I wonder if the servers are about to crash? Getting lots of Project is down The project's database server is either down or ran out of connections at the moment. Please check back in a few minutes.messages when clicking on threads or trying to post. Grant Darwin NT |

I had that a few times yesterday. And it did seem very quiet in here over the weekend, so maybe I wasn’t the only one. (Or maybe other people have better things to do on a July weekend…) |

Greetings, Hi Sid, I boosted it to 6 hrs and will continue with that for a while. Thanks for letting me know about this I never thought of it. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Greetings, Once you know things are running reliably you can afford to do this. Marginally lower overheads, fewer tasks uploading and downloading, lower storage space needed, fewer server hits, more credits per task (same per day). Everyone wins. Every little bit helps. |

Greetings, I predict that on or about October 6, 2020, I will hit my second million credits. It seems to take this PC 9 days now to hit 100K. Let's see how close I get. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Greetings, I'm back! :) I'm sure many of you have heard about the major destructive storm running through the Mid West on Monday 8/10. We were without power for just over 48 hours. We got TV and Internet back late yesterday afternoon, 8/13. I now have some catchin' up to do here. Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

I'm sure many of you have heard about the major destructive storm running through the Mid West on Monday 8/10. I have been wondering whether we will have enough cattle feed, or will have to go to veggie-burgers. |

I'm sure many of you have heard about the major destructive storm running through the Mid West on Monday 8/10. Saw a story yesterday that most corn will be sold as feed corn instead of sweet corn due to the damage, that will bring down the prices of feed corn and make this season a huge loss. I don't know what kind of corn they use in veggie stuff. BOTH are corn so it may bring down the price if they can figure out how to sweeten it if they normally use sweet corn. My wifes uncle was a farmer before he died and we went to get corn for dinner and he stopped in the sweet corn section and I said what's the difference, they look t he same to a non farmer like me, and he said try one so I took a bite of feed corn and while it was NOT sweet it WAS corn, I took a bite of the sweet corn and it was DELCIOUS!!! I did it in the field so both were right off the stalk and cold but both were ready to be harvested. |

For those looking to upgrade their systems for crunching Rosetta work (or other CPU based projects), don't want to wait for Ryzen3 to be released (and have more money than sense...) 128 threads at 4.0GHz, sustained. today AMD and SPEC is announcing that the Magnetar X64T workstation, a system that you can buy, will off-the-shelf give the best performance in SPECworkstation3 ever seen.
