It's not the virus that concerns me, it's the world falling apart due to virtually nobody working. Well they are the expert on viruses, since it started there, but apparently it's not allowed to suggest that in here. I won't be donating my computing power to this project any longer due to power hungry admins yelling at me. |

Sid Celery, [snip]
Could that be because the tasks are set up to run under specific operating systems, and the last 8,000 are not suitable for the operating system on your computer? Also, could it be that 8,000 tasks are of types that are not shown under Tasks by application at the bottom of the server status page? The two listings of available tasks tasks on the server status page do not agree, but it is not obvious whether it is because they show the status at different times or because one doesn't show all types of tasks. |

It now looks like natural processes among animals did it instead. |

[snip] And there is somewhere the virus isn't - the open countryside. But apparently I'm supposed to take exercise from my front door and not travel elsewhere. No thanks, I'll go running in the middle of nowhere, not down the street meeting hundreds of others. There are no known cases in Antarctica. But are you about to move there? |

Could you get someone from the community to help with/do some of that work? There seems to be lots of people who are both keen to help and highly capable. If practical, that could free you up to work on the high value work, like getting the new version of Rosetta running, or getting trRosetta ready for BOINC etc. |

Total newbie here, and don't know that much about whether I'm actually helping or hindering. I have just my laptop and trying to do what I can to help. Thanks for providing the wu's, and will be glad when I hear the laptop fan blowing again :D |

I'm also sorry to say the tasks ready to send on the server status page are <not> ready to send. There's always an 8,000ish discrepancy when tasks run out completely for several days, as they do now and as they did a few months ago - confirmed when compared with the homepage right now. I've learned to ignore it and look elsewhere. That's certainly crossed my mind, but I made a gag about it months ago (the figure was 8086 and I speculated it was for 8086 processors) and the figure's never shifted since then on anyone's OS. Also, no-one else laughed since then, but I don't think that's so much of a factor.. |

I see what you're talking about now. Those probably need to be cleaned out for some reason. |

BTW, we posted the application update and plan to make an official announcement tomorrow. Our site is getting quite a bit of traffic now but hopefully it will settle down soon. |

Nothing to crunch and it's been over 2 days now which is a good sign more folks are signing up. All's not lost though I'm crunching Smash Childhood Cancer at the World Community Grid until more R@H work units are released. |

I'm running both Rosetta and Folding@home. But Folding is overwhelmed by new volunteers and they don't have enough storage so work units don't come very often. |

All's not lost though I'm crunching Smash Childhood Cancer at the World Community Grid until more R@H work units are released. Same. I did manage to snag 4 Rosetta units - but I have the capacity to run 16 tasks across my devices, so the rest are on WCG. Can't seem to get any SCC WUs either, but that's an issue I need to bring up in the WCG Forums. Looking forward to Rosetta pumping out more WUs, regardless of whether I end up with any, tbh. Do keep crunching - it's for a good cause, either way. |

Can someone please tell me why the credit for an 8 hour work unit has dropped to 12 to 14 points? I've had one that was just 6 points credit. Ten work units were 12 to 16 points. What's causing that? Thanks in advance for any explanation you can give me. |

A few things (I just recently came back to R@H): (1). Noticed that I downloaded 4.12 of Rosetta last night. (2). downloaded "a bunch" of conducting_fibre_*_*_*_* work units that have already run 10 hours and only 63% complete (I'm using the 8 hour default) and are due APR 3. A lot are not going to make it if they run the full 16 to 20 hours. (3). Is there maintenance that happens about 0000UTC? I noticed that the scheduler was not running and many WUs were "stuck" in upload and download. It seemed to clear about 0300UTC. Is this an every night thing? |

Welcome back! With some 30,000 new hosts over the last 2 days, the servers have been hammered. You are probably one of the only people with active WUs, so just keep crunching. The BOINC Manager will clean them up if they expire. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
