I wanted to point out that every time you post a news message on your homepage, it gets reported and publicised here for free (see the news updates from all projects below the main grid).

So, making several posts a week will keep the Rosetta name out there for other BOINCers to see.

It looks like tomorrow they will turn the crank on a new digit to represent Rosetta hosts. And just HAVING that many implies some stability and consistency that others are looking for.

So, may I humbly suggest you post a note tomorrow about 100,000 hosts crunching Rosetta.

And the number of hosts added daily is almost that of BBC Climate despite their massive publicity. About 2,000 more users and Rosetta will pass Predictor in that category.

nice to see that.
any ideas where the recent increase in new users and hosts the last days is coming from? much more than the usual average :)

Might be coming from some of the heavy competition that is about to begin with the top 3 teams. DPC has an impending Stampede, XS is attempting to overtake DPC, and Free-DC will have to up their power to stay at #1.

Just a thought though.

Of course the number of hosts will be increasing because of not being able to merge computers.

Well, I agree that this should contribute a small amount to the overall total but I find it hard to believe that a substantial percentage of the new hosts are re-installations....

I agree, I find it really hard to believe that more than a very samll percentage of new hosts are "ghosts".

We must find ways to add more participants, however!

# of hosts isn't very important ... the avg # of *active* hosts is.

That's prob the reason why Rosetta has twice the production of Predictor
even though Predictor shows more hosts. These projects have high
mortality.

Agreed, the point was to publicize a milestone. I didn't take the time to research whether the stat was active, or just registered. Since my hosts are numbered in the 120,000s, and I registered back in December... I presumed the number WAS active hosts.

Looking at it now, it looks like all three of my hosts got a new host number in March. Did the new Rosetta release cause the hosts to register again? THAT would be an easy way to double your numbers :)

hosts and users are going up and teraflops are going down as of dec 22.. id like to see a way on the home page to post only active hosts within 30 or 60 days it hard to see where we stand as far as active hosts and users

Check this: users and hosts. Both numbers are dropping.

I think the word is getting around that RAH has/had some problems.
but at the same time we are the number 2 project behind seti.

So RAH folks have more computers crunching per user than Seti does?!!!
319,974 / 190,303 = 1.68 pc's per user while 85,875 / 45,625 = 1.81 pc's per user!!! Quality is always better than quantity, but quantity is what we have here!!!!! I do not have the data to determine if the pc's here are older ones or newer ones as compared to the ones over at Seti. Quantity WILL overcome quality IF we have MUCH bigger numbers though!!
