How does your folding client start? My starts with "E:program files (x86)FAHClientHideConsole.exe" "e:Program Files (x86)FAHClientFAHClient.exe" --client-type=advanced link in C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup

C:Program Files (x86)FAHClientHideConsole.exe
(note that the backslashes are removed by the Rosetta forum)
All Boinc forums do that, it sucks. They also remove double spacing, which I always use inbetween sentences. How hard can it be to just post what you type?

rosetta forums remove 3 backslashes out of 4
So you have to type backslash four times to display one backslash

Now start the slot and reboot. It might have just been set to pause on start. That's what I find, a different setting controls what it will do at startup.

No problem with starting the slot, then pausing it, then rebooting. It stays paused until I start it again.
I did not set "pause on start" at all.

I don't recall ever losing a Folding task on reboot either in Windows or Ubuntu. That is different than certain BOINC projects, where it can happen.
In Folding, they control the software both for the client that runs the task, and also the control program. So they are usually very compatible.

One advantage is that you don't have to put up with the insufferable BOINC scheduler. It has to juggle a lot of different tasks with different run times from different projects.
And they also have the resource share setting to consider, while running VirtualBox tasks with other ones, while meeting the deadlines. It is all a big mess.

Folding just downloads a new work unit when the running one is 99% complete. There is no buffer to set and really not much to go wrong.
The only real problem I have seen in recent years is when COVID hit and all the servers were overloaded. But that is all straightened out now.

What buffoon came up with that idea? Why not just display what I type?

Doesn't work that way here. If pause on start is set, it pauses on start, if it's not set, it runs on start, irrespective of whether it was running before the reboot or whether there was even a task downloaded. I've had a computer paused because I don't want to run folding on it for a week, yet when I restart, it downloads another one and runs it!

The Boinc scheduler is really thick at scheduling but so is Folding. It constantly downloads things I won't have time to run. It has no way of checking the speed of a CPU, it just goes by the number of cores, so older computers are useless. It also assume you have it running 24/7, so my gaming machine which is only available 1/2 to 2/3rds of that time is always missing deadlines.

You can use this app_config.xml to limit number of running instances.
put it in C:programdataBOINCprojectsboinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta
<app_config>
   <app>
      <name>rosetta_python_projects</name>
      <max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
   </app>

</app_config>

I think you need to check whether ort not you have installed boinc as a service.
If you installed boinc as a service virtualbox will not work with boinc.

Yow will also need to install extension pack matching installed vbox version https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Download_Old_Builds_5_2

One of my GPU's is being ignored, I cleared out all the CC config files.
What am I missing?

8/31/2022 9:01:41 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (driver version 516.94, CUDA version 11.7, compute capability 6.1, 8192MB, 8192MB available, 9070 GFLOPS peak)
8/31/2022 9:01:41 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (driver version 516.94, CUDA version 11.7, compute capability 6.1, 4096MB, 4096MB available, 2274 GFLOPS peak)
8/31/2022 9:01:41 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (driver version 516.94, device version OpenCL 3.0 CUDA, 8192MB, 8192MB available, 9070 GFLOPS peak)
8/31/2022 9:01:41 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 1 *-*-(ignored by config)-*-*-: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (driver version 516.94, device version OpenCL 3.0 CUDA, 4096MB, 4096MB available, 2274 GFLOPS peak)

There is no app_config in the data files or in the program folder, so I have no idea where this command is coming from.

Pasted that in the main directory on C:, still ignored.

wrong directory location and did not have the entire sequence.
copy and pasted out of boinc page and put in root of data file
problem solved.

Just FYI...if you have been a WCG cruncher and have not checked recently, they are back online with tasks.

They've been going for quite a while now, but the tasks are sporadic, some are issued quite a few times a day, but not enough for everyone. Also, when you try to download the tasks, the downloads get stuck.

So I set up a tickle function, I got Boinc to ask for work every 5 minutes. Got all my machines running 24/7 on their tasks now. 110 CPU cores. There were 12 GPUS and 2 phones, but they're not giving those out anymore.
