See WCG forum, Recent Threads, for more.I'm banned from there :-) Twice :-) Playing COPS song.... What the heck are you doing to get banned at WCG? |

Playing COPS song....I love that song. Must download some Reggae. What the heck are you doing to get banned at WCG?You only gotta be rude to the admins a couple of times. Asking them why they're so useless for example, you know, just the truth. I've been banned from the main Boinc forum 38 times! I've been banned for as little as "the Boinc scheduler was written by an idiot, get a real programmer". Pretty stupid to have "If your account is suspended, don't create a new one" sat right there on the left, it's just asking for it.... |

Are you saying you changed your PCs to master instead of www? That does not work for me, I just tried it again, I'm not found in the database.I keep getting this though:I've changed over 3 of 4 PCs successfully enough. The only difficulty was a work machine where our email address changed after originally joining 12yrs ago. but I worked it out in the end. First I remove WCG, then re-add the project, replacing the URL offered with the "master" one and it seems to work the first time on each machine. Yes, I've seen from their forums that changing the URL wasn't necessary. It's my laptop I still haven't switched over yet and it just received tasks anyway. And I spoke a day too soon. Mapping Cancer Markers tasks have now become available on WCG. Hopefully that'll keep my idle machines busy now And I finally got around to setting up my 2nd PC for VBox - running better than my main machine tbf, but it's only a non-HT quad core rather than 8C/16T. It all helps |

I still get this from one that managed to attach: The first one is from a week or two back. The one you're getting now is the current error message. If you remove, then re-add the project with the new URL, the error message doesn't go away. And apparently it's not necessary to use the new URL. Try to manually update again right now. New tasks became available to me about an hour before the message I'm typing now |

First I remove WCG, then re-add the project, replacing the URL offered with the "master" one and it seems to work the first time on each machine.I tried several times on several machines to use the master URL and it never worked. ID not found in database or something. It doesn't seem to be any use anyway, the proper URL works ok. I engaged a 5 minute tickle on 7 PCs, and got loads of cancer tasks. It seems to be churning things out regularly now, so I've turned it off to decrease server load. No sign of GPU work though :-( I thought there was going to be a huge backlog of OPN (GPU) work to do? None of my machines are ever idle, there's plenty of projects I'm interested in. Mainly astrophysics and biology. I only have two machines that will do Rosetta VB tasks, since the other CPUs are too old and lack AVX. And one of those machines is the main one. And VB on a machine you're trying to interact with is ridiculous. It's like using a 286. |

Oh...your the one grabbing all the work. All I get is about 6 Open Pandemics every few days and then its no work. |

Oh...your the one grabbing all the work.Sorry, I got 250 cancers. That's only 2.5 per core. Anyone got any CPUs/MBs/RAM they want rid of? I'm out of connections for GPUs. |

It doesn't seem to be any use anyway, the proper URL works ok.Weird error, but it doesn't matter, as you say. I engaged a 5 minute tickle on 7 PCs, and got loads of cancer tasks. It seems to be churning things out regularly now, so I've turned it off to decrease server load. No sign of GPU work though :-( I thought there was going to be a huge backlog of OPN (GPU) work to do?Someone above said they're just issuing CPU tasks at first, which makes sense if they're being very careful I only have two machines that will do Rosetta VB tasks, since the other CPUs are too old and lack AVX. And one of those machines is the main one. And VB on a machine you're trying to interact with is ridiculous. It's like using a 286.I don't get sluggishness with VB tasks. Well, I did a little when I pushed things to the limit and tried to get 11 tasks running at once, but once I limited RAM to only allow 10, things improved a lot. |

My system gets very sluggish when i run lhc or quchempedia virtualbox tasks on it. The strange thing is that when i run equivalent workload on vmware it doesn't lag. |

Someone above said they're just issuing CPU tasks at first, which makes sense if they're being very carefulI was getting Android too yesterday, although today the Androids say work is reserved for other platforms. I don't get sluggishness with VB tasks.I have tried it on an i5 8600K and a Ryzen 9 3900XT, both have a noticeably sluggish interface even with a 25% CPU load on VB and nothing else running. The Ryzen has 64GB RAM and the i5 has 48GB. Both have mid-range NVME drives for Windows 11 and Boinc. It does this with any VB project (Rosetta, LHC, Cosmology). What is it you're doing to stop this? |

Lhc@home have native linux apps. I installed centos 8 stream on vmware workstation , and installed cvmfs bu using these guides https://cvmfs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/cpt-quickstart.html and https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4971 |

Yes. But for some reason doesn't make host system unusable. |

Yes. But for some reason doesn't make host system unusable. So it's a software problem not a hardware one, that doesn't surprise me. I take it Boinc can only interface with Virtualbox? |

Maybe it is a problem with VirtualBox Hardening? I probably should try to compile virtualbox without hardening and check. |

Yes, I saw a couple of Android WCG tasks today for the first timeSomeone above said they're just issuing CPU tasks at first, which makes sense if they're being very carefulI was getting Android too yesterday, although today the Androids say work is reserved for other platforms. I have an i3-8350K 4C Win10 16Gb RAM and a 5800X 8C/16T Win10 32Gb RAM - not a million miles off your two but much less RAM - and I'm doing nothing out of the ordinary. iPlayer streaming in the background and some Excel work at most |
