Thanks for the reply. I've made a few small changes, but the fact is that the laptop is not heavily used and was given very nearly free reign for BOINC when not in use, and did not run until the laptop had been unused for 5 minutes. I endorse Grant's suggestions, but I'll just mention some slight differences I use on my relatively new laptop. I worry about temperatures/cooling too, but I'm getting away with 50% of the CPUs without fan problems or throttling. By all means start with 25% (2 of 8) cores and if it works much better, try 37.5% (3 of 8) before stretching to 50%. In terms of time unused before Boinc starts, clear the fields and unselect them. I believe this defaults to 1 minute, which I think is plenty. Lots can happen in 5 minutes - even just touching the mouse or keyboard. I always suspect this makes a huge difference with no benefit to you or Boinc. In fact, I have everything unselected on the computing tab, except "Leave non-GPU tasks in memory while suspended" ![]() ![]() |

Right now I've put both those projects on 'no new tasks' and I'll see what happens after that, and update later. One thing i didn't notice earlier with Einstien- it takes you 6 days to return work there. Here the deadline is 3 days. Make sure "Use at most xxx % of CPU time" is set to 100%, Set your cache to Store at least 2.0 days of work Store up to an additional 0.01 days of workIf you feel the need for a cache (given the present issues, i'd suggest no cache at this stage; 0.1 days and 0.01 additional days). And as Sid posted, make sure When to suspend isn't selected at all (the default is actually 3 minutes)- especially so if using only a couple of cores/threads. There'll be plenty left over for other programmes & the Operating System; no need to suspend BOINC. Right now I've put both those projects on 'no new tasks' and I'll see what happens after that, and update later. At the moment- nothing will happen. There is no work here at Rosetta at present, and when there is you've got a 1030min window to get some, before it's all gone. I'd suggest re-enabling work for the other projects, and see you processing times improve, and work being returned much, much earlier (it needs to be done in less than 3 days to process work here). its because theres no aarch64/ARM64 build and it seems that newer Android versions will crash/error All of my hosts, such as 6286328 (Android 12), report "ABI: arm64-v8a" to the projects (as registered by BOINC); CPU-z reports aarch64. I do agree, though that there will be some difference between each OS version; in practice it appears to result in my Android 9 and Android 12 devices being the only ones to currently return any valid work ![]() |

And as Sid posted, make sure When to suspend isn't selected at all (the default is actually 3 minutes) I think I got mixed up with the difference between Computer 'in use' and 'not in use' - and I think I'm wrong on that too tbh Either way (both ways) it should be the minimum. Anything longer than a single second is a waste imo. ![]() ![]() |

Blimey, I managed to grab some Rosetta tasks from another very small batch. It was nearly an hour before I noticed, and filled my cache on one machine before they ran out, and squeezed 2 tasks down on my laptop too. More miracle behaviour on my main PC ![]() ![]() |

Blimey, I managed to grab some Rosetta tasks from another very small batch. Dunno how it happened, but I snagged 127 of them. Yahoo! With WCG not so responsive, and Denis DIW, it was looking like I was gonna be running Einstein for a while. ![]() |

Blimey, I managed to grab some Rosetta tasks from another very small batch. On the downside, there continues to be an attrition rate of tasks crashing out along the way, but not too many. Fingers, as always, remain crossed ![]() ![]() |

Fingers, as always, remain crossed I don't think they'll ever error-trap that one out of existence. And at the moment 'beggars can't be chosers...' Fwiw I had 12 errors from batches that totalled 70 - 17% bad, 83% good - which wasn't too bad Then 2 individual tasks, arriving as re-sends, that both crashed out as they had for their original hosts Nothing else to talk about - I hope everyone is well ;) ![]() ![]() |

I've added (Tools > Add project) Rosetta to my Windows 11 BOINC client (8.2.4 x64), but my username and credits aren't showing — they're just blank and zero, respectively. And I'm not getting any tasks. I've checked my profile and: 1. My account page says I have 131,197 credits — the "Projects in which you are participating" table says it's 131,196. 2. The "Your computers" page shows every single PC and smartphone I've run Rosetta on since May 2020, but this new computer isn't featured on that list. Are those common bugs? Is there anything I could do about it? Thanks in advance! |

And I'm not getting any tasks. You need to attach to the project as a returning user, not create a new one when attaching to the project (which is probably what has happened with your Win 11 system. And the reason for not getting any Tasks is because there is none at present. Grant Darwin NT |

You need to attach to the project as a returning user, not create a new one when attaching to the project (which is probably what has happened with your Win 11 system. I actually did that: Tools > Add project… > Rosetta@home > "Yes, existing user" > user:pass (same ones I used to login to the project page to check my credits) Even if I had mistakenly created a new account, at the very least my [new] username should be visible, I guess. And the reason for not getting any Tasks is because there is none at present. Indeed, I'd checked the status scheduler, which indicates "No work available". I'm not really concerned about that, just my username and credits not showing up on the client. |

Does it wait until the first task, with all its support files, has been downloaded before pulling that information down? I didn't think so tbh, but I'm guessing and clutching at straws ![]() ![]() |

I'm not really concerned about that, just my username and credits not showing up on the client.Check the account numbers. The account you are posting with shows 6 systems when "Show all computers" is selected against User ID 2158075. If you click on "Your account" on the Project tab on the newly attached computer, does the User ID there match the one above? Grant Darwin NT |

Does it wait until the first task, with all its support files, has been downloaded before pulling that information down? I don't think so, either. But I am having an issue along those lines with Radioactive@Home: it downloads a single WU, processes it, uploads the results… but I'm still at 0 credits. That's a new project for me, so I'm not in a hurry to solve that problem just yet. |

If you click on "Your account" on the Project tab on the newly attached computer, does the User ID there match the one above? Rosetta is the only project that doesn't have that button — the other seven all do. ![]() |
